Background
The activities of GVC in the north of the Bekaa are mainly focused on Emergency Response (WASH, Shelter and Basic Assistance) and implementation of the Community Protection Approach (CPA). The CPA is a methodology which comprises a context-specific process of multi-sectorial assessment and right-based analysis to determine immediate patterns of risks and analyze the degree of the population’s resilience against such risks.
The Project Officer will be responsible to support the Project Manager and the Emergency Coordinator in the supervision and implementation of the activities related to ECHO funded project in Bekaa.
Duties and responsibilities
- Providing support in the organization and coordination of the activities of the project staff and ensure that they perform their job effectively.
- Assist project staff in implementation of project SoPs.
- Technically assist the project staff to perform tasks related to project components efficiently and effectively.
- Ensure regular field visits to project sites.
- Assist Project Manager Bekaa and/or the Emergency Coordinator in the preparation of reports as required.
- Assist Project Manager Bekaa and/or the Emergency Coordinator in monitoring progress and evaluation of project activities including all the collection of logistic and financial documents.
- Follow up with logistic department on procurement progress.
- Monitor the budget of Protection Response Plans (PRPs), Acute Needs Response (ANRs) and Emergency Responses (ERs).
- Assist Senior WASH & Shelter Officer in the procurement processes ensuring that procedures are properly followed (Work orders, Workers sheet, completion of certificate, AFU platform, Handovers).
- Assist the field staff in the capitalization of the data of the activities in the WW-GVC protection platform.
- Participate, and provide inputs in preparation of Project Reviews and Work Plan.
- Other responsibilities as directed by Project Manager Bekaa and/or Emergency Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications and Knowledge
- An advanced university degree or equivalent in the field of Social or Political Science, Development Studies, International relations, Project Management.
- Good knowledge of main donors’ policy and procedures (in particular ECHO and AICS).
- Good verbal and written communication, interpersonal and team skills.
- Fluency in English and Italian, both written and verbal.
- Valid and clean driving license.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant working experience in project management.
- Experience in Project Cycle Management.
Skills and Abilities
- Computer skills, in particular MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Project.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Proven organizational skills and ability to effectively manage multiple tasks while fostering quality, team spirit and positive working relationships with colleagues.
- Precision and meticulousness.
- Problem-solver approach with demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and creating efficiencies.

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
- Previous experience in Middle East countries would be considered an asset.
- Previous work experience with international NGOs will be preferred.
