Country: United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
Closing date: 02 Nov 2016

Saferworld is an independent non-governmental organisation that works to prevent violent conflict and build safer lives. We work with civil society, governments and international organisations to encourage and support effective policies and practices through advocacy, research and policy development, and through supporting the actions of others.

The post-holder will have an advice and support role for a number of ongoing and future programmes that aim to strengthen the gender components of Saferworld’s work on conflict, security and justice. This will involve working with country teams to mainstream gender into community security, conflict sensitive development and peacebuilding programmes and to provide capacity-building and mentoring as required. The Adviser will also contribute to Saferworld’s broader work on conflict-sensitivity and/or security and justice, depending on their expertise. In addition, the role will include conducting research and advocacy on gender, conflict, security and justice.

The successful candidate will have a post-graduate degree in a relevant subject or equivalent professional experience. They will have experience with practical programming, research and advocacy on issues related to gender equality, conflict, security and justice with specific reference to at least two of the regions where Saferworld works.
